Yesterday something terrible happened to a friend of mine. I saw the accident on the news throughout the day, enamored by the fact that it was less then a mile from my house, only to later find out it was a friend's misfortune I had been witnessing. Here I have copied the news article:

A woman has been arrested on two counts of aggravated assault after her Yukon SUV hit a 3-year-old girl and her 52-year-old grandmother Tuesday in Gilbert.
The toddler was knocked unconscious at the scene and both were transported to a local hospital with multiple trauma injuries. Neither victim's injuries are believed to be life threatening, said Sgt. Mark Marino, spokesman for Gilbert Police.
The driver, Jeanne Marie Kafoury Hobbs , 46, was driving at a high speed near Lindsay and Williams Field roads when she lost control of her vehicle on a curve in the road, Marino said. While her vehicle slid out of control, she hit a 12-foot-tree and split it in half, hit a light pole and then struck the two pedestrians.
Gilbert Police are investigating the accident and suspect that drugs and alcohol are a factor, said Marino.
The child was identified as Aubry Esaw and her grandmother as Urszula Morun.
Marino said the child lost consciousness after the accident but regained it before a helicopter transported her to a regional trauma center. Morun was listed in critical condition.

Supposedly, Hobbs was on her way to an AA meeting when she hit my friend's daughter and mother. Just goes to show how precious life really is, and how thankful we should be when we wake up each morning. Give your loved ones an extra squeeze when you hug them and please keep this family in your prayers.
